Eros is the core issue of Plato's symposium in which Plato discussed the meaning of love from philosophical horizon at the first time in the history of human spirit by a symposium with wine.Symposium emphasized that the love to body is definitely mortal, junior, not deserving human's pursuit; On the contrary, only the love of soul which transcends bodily love can inspire human's weak soul into the holy horizon of god. From now on,the real beauty and the real goodness, namely the beauty itself and the goodness itself, could be seen by human's soul.It seems what Plato's Symposium conveyed has been far away from us,especially the modern society controlled by Technicism and Pragmatism in which, human has been always indulged in enjoying of visually bodily beauty.Whereas, transcendence of soul has been out of human's concern and all the value as well as meaning of life are reduced into just things which means universal degradation of human's soul. Therefore,Plato's Symposium, composed thousand years ago,is still significant in enlightening and warning the people in modern society. We must go back into the context of ancient Greek and reinterpret Plato 's text in order to find the significance of enlightenment which is the primary intent of this paper. This paper includes four chapters. In the first chapter, the introduction,Here gives the purpose and significance of this paper and literature review. In the second chapter,an review of mythological and historical source of Eros is given. The third chapter is to make analysis of all chapter in Plato's symposium from the standpoint of critique of Technicism in modern society. In the last chapter, the primary jog is to do reconstruction of Plato's theory of Eros.
