| In recent years,environmental livability attracts great attention from both citizens and governments from home and abroad.With the rapid urbanization in China,environmental problems such as pollution,urban traffic congestion,ecological deterioration have become more and more serious,and urban residents’ living environment and quality of life decreased gradually.However,with the improvement of income and their ecological awareness,Chinese citizens are paying more and more attention to urban livability.The source text is an excerpt from Developing Indicators and Monitoring Systems for Environmentally Livable Cities in the People’s Republic of China released by Asian Development Bank in 2014.The chosen text is very informative,scientifically introducing the whole process of developing environmental livability index,including the concept,the designing theory,the creation work,and the pilot testing applied in 33 cities.Based on the relevant theory,the translation report provides a thorough analysis of problems the author encountered in the translation procedure,and accordingly tentative solutions.This report is composed of five parts.The first part is a brief introduction to the project,addressing the background,analyzing the source text,and briefing the purpose and significance of the project.The second part presents two major relevant translation theories,the Skopos theory and Newmark’s text type theory.The third part is translation process,including the preparation,translation and proofreading.The fourth part elaborates translation practice from two aspects,translation difficulties and case analysis.The fifth part summarizes the report and draws the conclusion.Hopefully this report can contribute to delivering environmental protection information from the world and raising people’s awareness of environmental protection.Meanwhile,the author hopes the report can be a reference for people interested or skilled in the environmental field. |
