Chinese adversative words have always been the keys and difficulties in teaching Chinese as a second language.Through referring to related works,the author finds that most of them are focused on the comparative research on single word or two to three words.Besides,ontology research is much more than TCSL research.However,research on Chinese light adversative words is comparatively not enough.Therefore,this thesis focuses on the research of foreign students’ errors of Chinese light adversative words.Based on the HSK dynamic composition corpus of Beijing language university,the corpus research method is applied throughout the research,while at the same time contrastive analysis hypothesis,Interlanguage and error analysis are also used in this thesisBefore analysing foreign students’ error corpus,this thesis uses induction method to conclude the characteristics of "buguo","zhishi","que" and "jiushi" from three aspects:semantics,pragmatics and syntax.Differences and similarities of these words in semantic focus,collocations and connectives derived from the analysis lay the solid foundation for the further error analysis.Based on the characteristics of Chinese light adversative words,statistical analysis is utilised to analyse errors of "buguo","zhishi","que" and "jiushi".With reliable data,it is discovered that foreign students easily make five errors:addition,misuse,omission,wrong order and punctuation error.In view of this,the author sorts out foreign students’ errors from those five aspects.Then the thesis makes a detailed analysis one by one,and concludes the different reasons of each error.The reasons of the error "buguo" is that foreign students have a blur knowledge about "buguo"s semantic focus and differences between "buguo" and "jiushi".Due to the multiple meanings of "zhishi",foreign students would easily overgeneralize this word.As for"que",foreign students are not aware of compatibility conditions and incompatibility conditions of "que" and "dan(shi)",differences between "que" and strong adversative words and syntax position of "que".And the reasons of "jiushi" mainly lie in that foreign students are not aware of that contents after "jiushi" often mean something unwelcome,undesirable or negative.This thesis also comes up with some suggestions from teachers,teaching and textbook compilation according to the analysis of foreign students’ error.Specifically,Chinese teacher should know the characteristics of each light adversative word and be able to choose right teaching methods flexibly.Speaking of light adversative words’ teaching methods,we come up with three methods:"all—individual—all" method,focused method and contrastive method.In the process of textbook compilation,it is advised to increase occurrence rate of Chinese light adversative words in the textbook and enhance the recurrence of "buguo","zhishi","que" and "jiushi" in language points and after-class exercises.
