Report On Simultaneous Interpreting Of The Internet Age(Excerpts)

As a cultural form,documentary has a strong transmissibility and enjoys wide audiences.It is an important channel to learn about other communities,thus playing an critical role in cultural communication.This report is based on a Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting practice of The Internet Age(excerpts),which is a documentary made by CCTV.As an informative text,the content of The Internet Age covers numerous fields and its language tends to be literary and scientific.In order to be faithful to the source text and present the original information appropriately and naturally,as well as to keep the synchronicity of pictures and the aesthetic feeling of the source text,with the guidance of Effort Model,interpreting strategies of anticipation,waiting,segmentation and omission have been used to complete this simulated simultaneous interpreting practice.This interpreting report is divided into four chapters:Chapter one gives an overall introduction to the interpreting project,including the background and goals of the project.Chapter two clarifies the Effort Model,analyses the features of the original text,as well as describes preparations conducted before interpreting.Chapter three elaborates the applications of four different interpreting strategies with case analysis.Chapter four makes a conclusion about interpreting experience and inadequacies.
