A Study Of Guan Xia's The First Symphony Prelude

In terms of a sound piece of music,it should sacrifice the audience psychologically once the music comes into their ears,thus to provide the efficient psychological communication between audience and composers.The First Symphony Prelude,a piece of symphony music composition,composed by one of China's most famous composers,Guan Xia,is adapted from one of his operas named Sorrowful Daybreak which being composed as the basis of its music.The primary melody of The First Symphony Prelude was used as the soundtrack in the TV series Burning Passion with significant features of Red Revolution.Mr.Guan,with his rich imagination and advanced composing skills;describes an artistic image with his “musical language”,and draws the “musical picture” in all aspects,which leaves a great impression on the hearts of the audience.And with its wide spreading and ear-pleasant fame,The First Symphony Prelude has become popular publicly.It took Guan about four years to finish this opera.With his thorough understanding of the old-generation revolutionists,in the process of cooperating with the scenarist Kong Yuan,he not only comprehended their great emotion towards life,but also greatly admired their passionate personality.This work shows the great respect towards the bravery of our predecessors in their way of creating the new China.This paper analyzes musical form,orchestration,harmony and the way of developing the music material,and then summarizes the way of composing Symphony Music.It also goes a profound study with its artistry,and makes efforts to understand the essence of this creation within the combination of sense and sensibility,thus to learn,study and conclude the method of symphony music composing.This paper consists of following three chapters:In the first chapter,composing background and the expressed contents of the The First Symphony Prelude is given by the author.As a piece of background music of TV series,as there must be close relationship between the music and the play plots,thus the expressed musical contents should correspond to the plot development.It is the top priority to mast the composing background and related contents in order to study the music composition.The second chapter mainly covers the study of the musical body of The FirstSymphony Prelude,composed by Guan Xia.As for an excellent symphony piece should maintain its complete structure,rational orchestrate arrangement,precise harmony and reasonable developing method of musical materials,therefore this part is a comprehensive analysis of the above four aspects.In area of the last chapter,composing aspiration of The First Symphony Prelude is performed by the author from the two aspects including the “National character pursuit of symphony composing in modern period” and the “symphony creating conform to related national conditions”.
