Study On The Discourse Cohesive Devices Of Chinese-English Translation Of Contracts

This is a translation project report on Equity Transfer Agreement and Supplement Agreement on the Equity Transfer Agreement of a company.Based on the brief introduction of the background and meaning of the translation project,this report conducts an investigation about the translation of cohesive devices in Chinese-English translation of a contract under the guidance of Halliday’s theory of Discourse Cohesion.This report holds the view that translators,with the knowledge of the differences between cohesive devices of Chinese and English,should understand and analyze the cohesive devices,which helps translators have an accurate understanding of the original text.The accurate translation of cohesive devices can help translators produce a faithful,true and fluent version.This report focuses on the translation of five cohesive devices including substitution,ellipsis,repetition,conjunction and word order.
