| This is a report on a simulated interpreting practice on the six opening speeches of Beijing Forum 2016.The report analyzes the problems of the simulated interpretation from the interpretive process proposed by Danica Seleskovitch&Marianne Lederer, namely, comprehension, deverbalization and re-expression.It also provides strategies for dealing with the problems and offers practical guidelines to future interpreting tasks. The report is divided into five parts. The first part introduces the structure of the report. The second part describes the interpreting task briefly. The third part illustrates in detail the preparation, interpreting process and post-task evaluation. The fourth part is case analysis, summarizing the problems in the interpretation, namely, misinterpretation, redundancy and information loss. Then the problems are analyzed from comprehension, deverbalization and re-expression and strategies for dealing with the problems are proposed. The fifth part concludes by a summary of the report and some reflections. The chosen materials for this simulated interpreting practice are opening speeches. The key and difficult point in this interpretation lies in the allusions to the Chinese classics. In addition, the interpretive process of comprehension, deverbalization and re-expression provides references for future consecutive interpreting tasks in terms of listening comprehension,note-taking,memory and expression. |
