A Practical Report On Study Of The Sentence Restructure In Passage Voyage Plan

With the development of the maritime industry,the assignment of Chinese seafarers has been increasing year by year.However,due to the fact that most of the maritime publications and related program documents on foreign ships are in English and the English level of Chinese crew members is relatively low,it has caused great difficulties for the Chinese crew.Therefore,the translation of marine documents is very important.This report selects the marine document Voyage(Sea Passage)Planning as the research object.In the process of translation,the difficulties in translation stem from the differences in sentence patterns between English and Chinese.The differences in sentence patterns are mainly manifested in English and Chinese sequences,voice,sentence structure and so on.In order to solve these problems,the report cites the theory of sentence pattern difference of the English-Chinese contrast theory to guide translation strategies so that the translation is more in line with the reading habits and thinking logic of the target readers.The report chooses the sentence reorganization translation strategy to solve the differences in terms of sentence pattern.Sentence reorganization generally includes three aspects:Word-order Reorganization,Sentence-type Reorganization and Voice Reorganization.In this report,the word-order reorganization can be explained from the reverse order reorganization and the comprehensive reorganization;the sentence type reorganization is mainly composed of the conversion between complex sentences and simple sentences;the voice reorganization can be described from the conversion of the passive voice into the active expression.In the report,in addition to these detailed translation methods,the author also attaches cases for better comprehension.
