Mind maps were originally invented by British psychologist Tony Buzan.As early as the 1960 s,he proposed the concept of mind mapping,using keywords,lines,graphics,tools to present concepts in different colors.Mind maps are conducive to the divergence and expansion of thinking in the process of thinking and they are very useful tool for knowledge visualization.At present,there is a low level of student participation in the reading teaching of junior high schools and there are many problems in students’ reading ability and reading skills.English reading has a large proportion in English teaching.Therefore,solving students’ problems in reading is extremely urgent.This study using mind maps in junior high school English reading teaching try to provide a new learning method for English reading to improve students’ reading ability and the effectiveness of junior middle school English reading teaching.This study selected two classes in the development area of Qinhuangdao City,Hebei Province as the research object of this study.The entire research process lasted for three months of the internship period includes the following aspects: the home and abroad research summary of mind mapping,the definition of mind mapping and English reading,the mapping method and the theoretical basis of mind mapping,the typical types of mind mapping and the application of feasibility in English reading teaching in junior high school and its implementation strategy.The experimental results show that the use of mind maps to assist English reading teaching improves students’ interest and enthusiasm for learning to read,improving their reading ability and level,deepening their understanding of reading materials,and improving their ability to retell article.
