Study On Design Style Of Cosmetics Packaging Of Shanghai Time-honored Brand In The Early 20th Century

The design of Shanghai in the early 20 th century has experienced the wave of the western westerly trend,and there has also been a well-designed commercial design characterized by the metropolis.The time-honored brand cosmetics packaging as a typical representative,not only reflects the "Shanghai" cultural connotation,but also one of the important constructors of the old Shanghai urban cultural space.Whether it is the change of the aesthetic value of the masses or the evolution of design language with the characteristics of the national style,many aspects deserve our in-depth study.First of all,the article takes the style characteristics of cosmetic packaging as an entry point.Field investigations and graphic methods were used to analyze and classify cosmetic packaging examples in Shanghai in the early 20 th century.Combining relevant literature,the theme,form and form of its style are mainly described.Summarizing the early 20 th century,Shanghai’s time-honored brand cosmetics packaging has the characteristics of multiple symbols,such as straightforward graphic symbols,complex and elaborate decorative shapes,and a mixture of Chinese and Western styles.Secondly,the paper starts with the aspects of art style,commercial society,popular culture,and way of thinking,adopts historical research methods,and reveals many factors that trigger the formation of its design style.Among these,social and cultural trends of thought,especially western Art Deco style and modern national product movements,have the most influence.Finally,the article took the Shanghai brand “Shuang Mei” as an example to carry out the design practice of the time-honored brand cosmetics packaging.Through further research on the style issues of the time-honored brand cosmetics packaging design in Shanghai at the beginning of the 20 th century,we tried to provide some inspirations for us to understand and master the theoretical issues of modern Chinese practical art and related design fields in a more macroscopic and comprehensive way.At the same time,it helps to pinpoint the development trend of the design style of the old-fashioned cosmetics packaging in the future and realize the maximization of economic benefits to prevent the huge waste caused by blind production.
