This paper is a practice report on simulated C-E consecutive interpretation on the documentary of Under the Dome by Chai Jing, which tells the air pollution in China and its negative impact. This report aims to analyze the interpreter's shortcomings in short-term memory and note-taking skills and come up with corresponding strategies. In order to find the approaches to reduce information losses during Chinese-English translation, the author picks one of her simulated consecutive interpretation experience. The author finds out two significant causes for information losses.First, the interpreter, disqualified in short-term memory practices, cannot remember all major messages when it comes to sentences with intensive information, which leads to information losses.Second, she is not sophisticated with note-taking skills which should be simple and easy to understand. She is prone to taking down too many complicated notes when encountered intensive information and cannot remember the original contents when looking back at it,for he/she buries themselves in taking notes rather than understand the meaning of the text.To reduce information losses, the author believes that the interpreter should first, improve short-term memory ability with purpose training in information visualization memory, outlining memory and logical reasoning memory;second, understand the function of interpretation notes, which helps the interpreter to recall the content. In addition, the author of this report hopes the paper can improve her interpreting quality and provide a useful and valuable reference for others.
