Mental fatigue refers to the repetition of a single job or task over a long period of time, resulting in a decrease in attention maintenance ability, significant negative emotions, and a mental state accompanied by a sense of psychological insecurity and fatigue.According to previous studies, the state of mental fatigue has a great negative impact on our attentional function,so that when we are in stress situations or engage in long-term mental cognitive activities,we cannot be actively alert to the occurrence of stimuli. For special occupation groups or special activities,if they are in a state of mental fatigue for a long time, they will cause great harm to their work and life. Therefore,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the influence of psychological fatigue on attention alertness. In this study, the Chinese version of the multi-dimensional fatigue scale MFI-20 was used as a tool to measure the degree of fatigue. In the first experiment, the medium-threatening stimulus words and pictures were used as the stimuli. In the second experiment, the low-level and high-level threat stimuli words and pictures were used as stimuli.Forty-one and fifty college students were tested separately, and both experiments used the 90-minute Flanker paradigm and point detection paradigm as induced fatigue experiments and formal behavioral experiments, respectively. The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in the level of alertness of subjects under psychological fatigue and the differences in alertness of fatigue subjects to different stimuli(words, pictures)and threat levels(low and high). The findings are as follows:(1)In the fatigue and non-fatigue groups, the response was the shortest under the same conditions, followed by the neutral condition, and finally the inconsistent condition.(2)Compared with the threat word, the fatigue and non-fatigue groups were more sensitive to the threat picture, with higher alertness and shorter response time.(3)Subjects under psychological fatigue had no difference in response to lowthreatening stimulus words and pictures, and high-threatening pictures had the highest level of alert arousal.(4)Long-term cognitive tasks do induce severe mental fatigue, accompanied by anxiety, depression, and burnout.
