As economy,culture,people contacts and exchanges between China and Thailand is increasingly frequent,Chinese become indispensable tool in people’s communication.Thailand also pay more and more attention to Chinese language teaching in university education to cultivate students’communicative ability.During the internship in the Confucius Institute of Mea Fah Luang University,the author taught Chinese public elective courses Chinese 1 and Chinese2.In the process of primary Chinese language course,many beginners have difficulties in learning Chinese characters and rely on Pinyin for a long time.The problem of poor connection between pinyin and Chinese characters directly influences the progress of the course and hinders the development of learners’ Chinese ability.In order to solve this problem,the paper takes the Chinese public elective course in Mea Fah Luang University Confucius Institute as the object to investigate and explore the problem of poor connection between Pinyin and Chinese characters in the Primary Stage of Chinese Teaching in Thailand.And analyze the cause of this problem and the effects on Chinese learners.It is hoped that some suggestions with reference value can provide some references for the improvement of the Chinese public elective course,and also hope to put forward some new ideas for solving this problem.First of all,the paper briefly introduces the present situation of the Chinese public elective course in Mea Fah Luang University.Under such a background,the article elaborates the problems of the connection between Pinyin and Chinese characters in the Chinese public elective course,and summarizes the definition of the problem.The concrete expressive form of this problem is also expounded,such as:the Chinese learners attaches great importance to the Pinyin so that ignore the characters;to rely too much on Pinyin and learn characters slowly;fear and resistance to Chinese characters learning.And investigate the problem through the teacher interview and the student questionnaire survey.And then,from the characteristics of Chinese characters itself to expound the relationship among the form,sound and meaning of Chinese characters,and analyzes the influence on Chinese learners from Non-Chinese cultural circle.Exploring the causes of the problems through the analysis of students’ learning situation,teaching material,curriculum arrangement and teaching design,and analyze the adverse influence of this problem on the learners’ Chinese learning.At last,the paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestion for the problem of which can be summarized as:Teaching students in accordance of heir aptitude,and establish a correct concept of Chinese characters to Chinese learners;To improve the teaching material,adding independent characters plate into the textbook;Slow progress,Arrange the teaching time and content scientifically;To improve Chinese teaching methods,reduce the cognitive load and improve the learning efficiency.
