The phenomenon of English underachievers in senior high school is spreading gradually,and its current situation is worrying.From a micro perspective,English underachievers tend to form a negative psychological orientation,and affect their own potential development.From a macro perspective,it is not conducive to the fairness of education and influences the educational effectiveness of the entire country.Therefore,it is imperative to analyze the causes and control strategies of English underachievers in depth.The main research question in this paper is what are the main factors in the formation of senior middle school English underachievers and what kind of regulation strategies should be adopted.On the basis of the research theories of English underachievers at home and abroad,the author compiled a questionnaire about the English learning situation of high school students.An investigation and comparative analysis of 446 students with English underachievers and English achievers were carried out.Combined with the research methods of interviews,classroom observations,case studies and tests,the data was analyzed by SPSS19.0 statistical software.Then,the present situation of English underachievers in senior middle school is grasped.The result of the study shows that the main factors are as follows: Poor learning motivation,weak learning interest,poor learning attitude,weak learning will,lack of learning strategies,poor self-efficacy,improper attribution,and other internal causes;inappropriate family education methods,inadequate school management systems,and selection of English textbooks.Teacher's teaching style and teaching methods,English learning atmosphere in schools and classes,disharmony between teachers and students,unhealthy social atmosphere and other external factors.The internal and external non-intellectual factors are intricate and intertwined.Through deep excavation of the causes of senior middle school English underachievers,the author explores and extracts the universal law of the English underachievers.This paper explores the transformation methods of education network for students,schools,families and social integration.There are many regulatory strategies such as strengthening psychological counseling,implementing emotional education,stimulating motivation and internal potential,improving self-efficacy,correct attribution,guiding the use of systematic learning strategies,constructing a multimodal modern English teaching context and improving the level of English language teaching,etc.At the same time,the potential impact of non-verbal behaviors of teachers on students should not be neglected.The soft and hard environment of English learning on campus,family and society should be optimized to improve.The feasibility of the transformation measures was verified by the study of the case tracking test and the significant difference between the experimental class and the control group.It is expected to have certain value to the high school English theory research and teaching practice.
