Both "Modern art" and "Contemporary art" have different meanings and are often mixed in,both at home and abroad,and have always been controversial words.Owing to identify with a view: modern art is referring to the modernism and postmodernism art,contemporary art refers to the modern art in the postmodern art,often has avant-garde art works of the artists in the show.Figure painting is an important content of contemporary art,the style of its development trend,development trend and development can let the viewer better look of contemporary art,the latest development of contemporary society and contemporary culture.After the fifties and sixties of the 20 th century,the western post-modern art,especially in the field of figure painting,the attentions of the west and the world,the viewer is often based on its exposure to the perspective of western contemporary art and contemporary culture.In the formation and development of contemporary figure painting art,whether it is realistic or disconnection of art form,show the postmodern character the unique charm of the art of painting.With the development of the era,postmodern figure painting artists began to abandon the surface image of the characters,create new art give priority to in order to explore the inner emotions.Western postmodern artist tries to express by a variety of different expression of true feelings within characters,use their own unique art language to make skilled emotional content more rich,more colorful characters.Therefore,it is more appreciated that the postmodern expressive figure art expresses the profound and abundant life of the human life world.In this paper,with the help of some art works on western postmodern painting expressive characters,try to research analysis,to understand western postmodern expressive basic artistic characteristics of figure painting,the unique expressive character of contemporary art painting style can use it.This paper divided into six chapters: the beginning of the article introduction,the paper selected topic background purpose and significance,research status at home and abroad,the innovation points and research methods and ideas for concise summary;The first chapter is an overview of the expressive language of western postmodern figures,and the formation and development of western contemporary postmodern expressive figures in the early modern period.Later chapters are characteristic of western postmodern figure painting expressive language parsing,focus on the western post-modern performance figure painting works of art,a comprehensive analysis of,and the postmodern some primary schools do the basic narrative style differences,also is the main idea of this article.Through this study,the author has a higher level of cognition and comprehension on the work of oil painting.
