Taizhou school is one of the most influential school in Ming destiny.Yan Jun is the representative thinker in taizhou school. His unique theory,on one hand simplifies the Confucianism theory and innovates spirit of practice, achieves the civilian Confucianism. On the other hand, his thought has the tendency to jump out the traditional Confucianism, making the taizhou school constantly attacked by the traditional moral codes. The first part, learning progress. From the middle of the 16th century, with the deterioration of despotism, the rise of citizen stratum, and many other historical, cultural and other factors, the primary focus of academic community gradually made the change from the doctrine of Zhu Xi to the doctrine of Wang Yangming. In the field of ideology, people had the pursuit of individual value and desire of civilians.Taizhou scholars, represented by Yan Jun,responded positively to the needs of this era.Based on the development of civilian Confucianism by the civilian class, the taizhou school quickly gained broad support and was once a late Ming scholar. The second part, simple ontology. The idea of benevolence has gradually become one of the core ideas of Confucianism, and Yan Jun has also given this issue a great attention. In the mind ontology,he continues Yangming’s thought, but on the ren ontology, his idea is beyond moral conscience, and increases the natural character to the height of the parallel to the moral rationality. And Yan Jun claims that he pays attention to the regress of Confucianism and the criticism of Neo-Confucianism.But we can find that he just learns the spirit from Confucianism, his innovation is more worth studying. The third part, the theory of practice to realize benevolence.Yan Jun insists on the concept of metaphysics in the form, directly breaks the thought of the antagonism between the former and the people. And he proposes the new relationship.First of all, adding naturalness to ontology, which weakens the innate value of ontology and the limits to the reality. At the same time,he advocates nature of ontology in the real use,and there is no specific restrictions to people’s desire, which makes the idea of the ontology is showed in reality.Thinkers after Yan Jun gradually appears the tendency of abandoning the innate ontology. So the taizhou school has a tendency to go beyond the doctrine of Yangming. The fourth part, the social practice of people’s daily service.Yan Jun inherits Wang Gen’s theory and provides specific practical measures for his social society.Yan Jun’s idea about "place the body" is based on the ethics of cherishing our life, not only inherits Wang Gen’s thought to preserve the physical life, but also emphasize the people’s mental outlook. His idea implies that we should consider benefit more than benevolence, and inherits by other thinkers in taizhou school.Yan Jun’s theory, not only reflects the importance of ourselves to social development, but also an important transformation in a learning both in theory and practice. The fifth part, how to reconcile the civilian Confucianism and elite Confucianism. From that time, the traditional Confucianism was clearly divided into two parts-elite and civilian Confucianism. The theories about that two parts always oppose, attack, reconcile each other, but until now, they have been closely linked together. In modern society, the traditional Confucianism just seems to be regarded as a kind of spiritual resources, only to be discussed from the perspective of academic and development, become the problem of a few people need to discuss, this will no doubt within the limited to the elite of Confucianism. And,in fact, modern Confucianism theory and behavior, also need to practice in economic, political, and other fields to play the unique role of traditional culture, they need to be accepted by the public mind.
