The Theme Of Time In Alessandro Barrico’s Novels

The futuristic movement in Italy,which began in 20 th century,has gone through the rapid development of modernization,but it finally declined at the end of the century.With the advent of modern society,all the solid things will be disappear,just like the most certain concept of the time is quietly breaking.The ltalian writer,Alessandro Baricco,who was in torrent of the times,felt the tension between human beings and nature in the context of modern existence,with acute literary and philosophical thinking.In his story,we have rediscovered the changes of people’s lifestyle and spiritual word,and this kind of recollection of the past and the rewriting of the history is the inheritance of Calvino’s literature.This paper is based on the modern background,starting from the time writing,aims to solve the problem of modern people’s survival in the dilemma of time,and to provide a new way of poetic dewelling.The paper is divided into three chapters.The introduction part is mainly focused on the research status of Alessandro Barrico at home and abroad,his works,and the research ideas of the article.The first chapter discusses the key dimension of modernity-time.Through the analysis of the changes in time consciousness of ancient Greece,Rome,The Middle Ages and modern society,it is pointed out that the time types can be divided into two types: the external time and the subjective internal time.But with the rapid development of capitalist industry and commerce,this split between the social necessary labor time and the limited natural life time,is being progress,which has become one of the deep contradiction in the present society.The second chapter mainly analyzes the tyranny of time expressed in Barrico’s novels.On the one hand,the tyranny of time is characterized by the change of speed in the shortening of socially necessary labor time.On the other hand,it is characterized of homogenization according to the accurate measurement of clocks.In the third chapter,Barrico tries to reconstruct the continuity of the subject’s internal time consciousness through utopia and recollection,in order to resist the imprisonment of modern mechanical time.However,utopia’s falsity through the empirical world has forced the author to seek a real utopia in his memories,to achieve aesthetic redemption.In today’s highly developed scientific and technological culture,the subjective perception time and the social labor time are in a relatively in dependent and equalstate,while it is no longer the relationship between obedience and be obedienced.Therefore,how to re-examine the status of traditional time,how to balance the relationship between time and survival,has become the most unavoidable reality of the moment.
