The grammatical rules of Chinese language are limited,and the phonetic rules,such as the sound,the tone and the rhyme of Chinese language are even more limited,while vocabulary is a relatively large.Vocabulary plays an important role in language learning,for foreign students,learning an amount of Chinese vocabulary is the most important.How to measure the quantity of Chinese Vocabulary that is learned and used by foreigners?On the basis of some previous studies,on the "Modern Chinese Common words list" compiled by subject research group,by the methods of translation and check list two methods,which are divided into two steps: pre-test and positive-test.Under the form of questionnaire distributed to Shanghai international studies university.Tested Shanghai Foreign Studies University’s language courses students.They are including :junior,middle and advanced.And the results of two methods and two steps are analyzed,and calculated in a clear way.The pre-test is a prelude to a formal test(that is,a baseline test),the main purpose of which is to understand the basic knowledge of the subjects’ vocabulary,and to lay the foundation for the correct design of the test paper and the scoring criteria,so as to carry out the positive test more effectively.In order to improve the accuracy and reliability of the test,the author first carries out the pre-test for the junior,middle and advanced foreign students of Shanghai Foreign Studies University by sampling,and then designs the test paper for the problems found during the pretest.And then in a pre-test,found the problem,the paper design,criteria and the amount of test content,etc.The grading standard and the content of the test paper were revised and adjusted,and on this basis,the test was completed.Through testing,analysis,calculation and research,the junior,middle and advanced students levels of Shanghai Foreign Studies University were fully clarified.The total vocabulary of foreign students in each class was also quantified.This paper is divided into six chapters: the first chapter is the introduction;the second chapter is the overall structure of the study;the third chapter introduces the pre-test;the fourth chapter introduces the positive test;the fifth chapter is the conclusion and suggestions;the sixth chapter is the conclusion.
