During the reign of emperor wudi of the Han Dynasty,the national power was unprecedentedly strong,and the country launched a large-scale war against Hungary.After the four wars,the Huns moved away from the desert to the north.Since then,the Han Dynasty established four counties in the Hexi area.They also built fortresses、resettled the borders and mobilized a large number of soldiers to defend the frontiers,effectively safeguarding the country’s stability and unity.This article mainly studies the native place management of soldiers by using the materials of Juyan Bamboo Slips and Jianshuijinguan Bamboo Slips.The article is divided into five parts.The first part summarizes the basic situation of the Great Wall in hexi,which was built in the Han Dynasty.The garrison system in hexi consists of the army system、the reconnaissance system and the tuntian system,which together forms a large and strong defense system.The second part is the integration and analysis of the registers in the Juyan Bamboo Slips and Jianshuijinguan Bamboo Slips.By sorting and studing the record of soldiers 、 the record of employers、the record of clothes and weapons、the record of sellers and the record of people passing checkpoint,we find that there are different with each other because of constituent elements、organizational units.The third part is the research on the statistics and some related issues of the origin of soldiers.When assessing the origin of the source,the statistics focused on the Jianshuijinguan Bamboo Slips and analyzed its characteristics;the state has to take into account various factors including the traffic,its own nature and the county’s Missions.Soldiers in different nature bear different responsibilities,their origins have a great influence on their responsibilities;In addition,when rotation is adopted,the work palces must fully consider their origins when receiving garrions.The fourth part elaborates the native place management in enlistment and retirement of the garrions.when garrisons employe each other,native place plays a very important management role.The fifth part discusses the daily management role of garrions,including equipment configuration,economic communication and pursuit of fugitives.Through the above analysis,it further clarifies the importance of native place management in the social governance of Qin and Han Dynasties.
