The deepening and frequent educational exchanges between China and western countries have attracted more and more western educators to China learning and investigating the reforms and changes in Chinese higher education.In their process of learning Chinese higher education,educators from different counties formed their own understanding and opinions upon Chinese higher education and thus produce numerous books on the history of Chinese higher education,which play a positive guiding role in the development of China’s education.Therefore,it is believed that the translation of such books would help domestic scholars find new ways of improving Chinese higher education and broaden their views on its research,which will promote the interconnection of academic and educational exchanges between China and the western countries.Taking “Tytler’s Three Rules of Translation” as a guiding translation theory,the author chooses“China”,an academic literature about Chinese higher education from International Handbook of Higher Education,as her translation practice.Tytler had comprehensively described the three rules of translation and defined what “the good translation” was,aiming at helping translators produce the ideal translation.Based on the guidance of “Tytler’s Three Principles of Translation”,the translator attempts to analyze the source texts from the lexical,syntax levels,she then summarizes the difficulties in the translation of academic literature and puts forward corresponding translation strategies.Finally,the translator sums up the content,style,and language of the source texts with the guidance of Tytler’s “Three Rules of Translation”.First,it is necessary to study relevant books and prepare related background knowledge so as to accurately translate the thoughts reflected and the meaning expressed in the original text in terms of content;second,it is recommended that the translator select the translation skills and translation strategies flexibly to keep the translation consistent with the original style;third,the translator should convey the thoughts and contents of the original works with appropriate,concise,fluent and natural language.
