The Female's Fertility Motivation And Its Influencing Factors In The Present Age

The issue of parenting is an important topic which concerns the individuals,families and the society as a whole.As the one with the primary responsibility for the reproductive activity,the content,degree and development of the reproductive motivation of female have important influences on their individual fertility desire,the individual and parental well-being.Various evidence indicates that higher education of modern female changed their fertility motivation greatly,thus influence their family and the society.From the perspective of self determination theory,the present study concerns of females' fertility motivation and its influences in the present age,the psychological factors related to education are also focused.This article contains 4sub-studies totally.Study 1 develops and validates the SRQ-fertility Motivation based on self-determination theory.Study 2(N =454)analyzes the characteristic of female college students' fertility motivation in demographics.Study 3 clarifies the relation of fertility motivation and two psychological factors(the cognitive need and the sense of status)in particular.Study 4(N = 231)explore the relationship between fertility motivation and parental well-being in 5 components.Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyzes indicated that fertility motivation comprise 2 factors: autonomous and controlled motivation,and the construct validity of this instrument is confirmed.The relative autonomy index indicates that the fertility motivation of female in our country is relatively high and differentiate in demographics.The need for cognition and the sense of status differently influence the fertility motivation,the former is associated with higher autonomous fertility motivation and the latter is on the opposite side.In line with the relative study of self-determination theory,the present study found the positive relationship between autonomous motivation and well-being in all components and particular in happiness and vitality.The controlled motivation has found the same conclusion in life satisfaction,meaning and self-esteem.The theoretical and practical significance of the present study is discussed.
