Qigang Chen is a famous composer of China,his works are full of strong flavor of Chinese literati,and pentatonic melodies are also important in his works,such as?Instants d'un Opera de Pekin?,?Iris devoilee?,?Extase?etc.?Reflet D'un Temps Disparu?is a work for cello concerto that was entrusted by the French National Symphony Orchestra in 1995.This work is one of the most representative works of Chen.By analysing the composing techniques of this work,I can see the unique style of Chen's music and creative thinking.The ancient melody of?Three Variations on the Plum Blossons?for Chin was greatly used in?Reflet D'un Temps Disparu?.References of this traditional melody appeared different situations.The melody of the cello is full of charm of pentatonic melody and the color of Chinese traditional culture.At the same time,the modern composing techniques are happened in this work,such as synthesizing of chords,and synthesizing of melodies and chords,symmetric structure which Chen commonly used,the cluster and sound mass.?Three Variations on the Plum Blossons?is named for three times viarations on the same subject in different harmonic.Composer change the character of the original songs.By refering the complete three variations melody and two segments of melody,composer constructed several important stages of the whole work.In addition,there are some clusters and sound masses in this work.Stereo music of?Reflet D'un Temps Disparu?will be the main research in this article.By surrounding analysis of clusters and sound mass,I hope i can summariz the meaning and function of stereo music.At the same time,by analysing the ancient melody of?Three Variations on the Plum Blossons?,i can analyze the techniques of how composers using melody and the different meaning of reference ways of melody to the structure.
