| This is a translation project report. The title of this project is Risks in Faster Payments. The original text of the project is a paper about faster payment schemes,in which the author analyses the development of faster payments in different countries and indicates that it is imperative for the U.S.to advance its own faster payment. While promoting the initiative, there are also various risks attached to it.In this paper, the author has provided approaches to address the challenges.Understanding those highlighted risks and solutions helps people better evaluate and manage them so as to boost the development of faster payments in their own countries.Functional equivalence theory is the theoretical guidance of this translation project. This theory supports that translating means using the most appropriate, natural and equivalent words to reproduce the source text, and it focuses on the functional equivalence between two languages rather than rigid word-to-word equivalence so as to equalize the reader’s understanding of the translated version with that of the original reader to the original text.As an informative text, the purpose of this paper is to pass on information. After the translation, the translator realizes the difficulty of being a translator, from getting the general idea of the source text to the formation of the translation.During translation, the translator needs to keep elaborating words and expressions so as to make audience of the target language get the same experience as in the source text, requiring profound knowledge and language transformation ability. The translator should flexibly apply theories and techniques to improve translation level.During translation, the translator always accords to Nida’s functional equivalence theory, accompanied with appropriate methods and techniques of literal translation, liberal translation, amplification, division, etc. |
