The trend of globalization has made the contact between countries more and more frequent.As countries are in different cultural backgrounds,it is inevitable that it shall cause misunderstandings and frictions in communication,even conflicts in severe case.South Korea established diplomatic relations with China for many years.The two countries are geographically narrow strip of water and close to each other.The skin is of the yellow race.It is really hard to tell the difference between the two countries on the outside.Therefore,it is taken for granted that there are no obvious differences between China and South Korea.From the perspective of cross-cultural communication,this paper uses cross-cultural communication,linguistics,psychology and other relevant theoretical knowledge to analyze the phenomenon of cultural conflicts in cross-cultural communication between China and South Korea.By presenting cases of cross-cultural conflicts between China and South Korea,it reveals and classifies the reasons for the formation of conflict,and proposes corresponding countermeasures to help people to communicate better and contribute to the development of friendship and cooperation between China and South Korea.This paper consists of six parts:The first part is the introduction and states reasons for the topic selection and the meaning of the research,which include the theoretical significance and practical significance,as well as the research status and trends of the topic at home and abroad.It involves cross-cultural communication theoretical research,cross-cultural communication application research and cultural conflict application research.This paper mainly focuses on teachers who have ever taught Korean students and South Korean students who are studying Chinese.Through distributing questionnaires,interviews,and observations,this paper conducts an investigation on the cultural conflict phenomenon in the process of cross-cultural communication between China and South Korea.The second part is the cases analysis of cultural conflict between China and South-Korea,determining the selection criteria for international Chinese teachingcases and the basis for case classification.Altogether 12 effective cases were screened out.The cases were first described,and then analyzed according to relevant theories.According to what the case reflected,a questionnaire was used to find out the causes of cross-cultural communication conflicts between China and South Korea.The third part explores the causes of cultural conflicts in cross-cultural communication between China and South Korea.The main causes of cross-cultural communication conflicts between China and South Korea are the lack of awareness of cross-cultural communication,language barriers,power distance,prejudice against foreign cultures,ethnocentrism,communication style,and other aspects.The forth part is the strategies of cultural conflict in the cross-cultural communication between China and South Korea.It puts forward the requirements from the two views of teachers and students.For teachers’ professional qualities which include the professional knowledge,the teaching method,the classroom management as well as the reflection.And the requirements for the students’ comprehensive qualities which include the learning method,the attitude towards cultural differences,and Construction of the third cultural bridge.And several ideas on Chinese international education and the spread of Chinese culture like local Chinese books,the mass media,tourism Chinese,the resources of Confucius institute,etc.The fifth part concludes the paper,analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of this paper,and the future research direction.
