| The thesis focuses on Post colonialism theory of Homi K Bhabha’s theory of hybridity,the "third space" and the "residence" theory.Through a detailed reading of four Novels and short stories,four aspects of "subversion and de-constructs","turning and mixing","transcendence and Deconstruction","turning and reconstructing".It presents the unique construction of the view of identity of Gish Jen’s novels.The thesis is divided into five parts:The introduction is composed of three sections.First,it combs the history of Chinese American literature and her career.Second is the literature review of Gish Jen’s works and the current research status at home and abroad,finally point out the problem and shortage existing in the current research and purpose,method and research significance of the thesis.The first part of will focus on her first novel,"typical American" which dispels the stereotype of American Society for Chinese Americans,and breaks through the struggle and exotic description of the traditional Chinese American literature on cultural conflicts,it breaks the American dream to negate the extreme individualism.The second part is turning and mixing,and Gish Jen begins to try to establish a fluid identity.Taking Mona in the Promised Land as an example,in her view,to change the racial discrimination phenomenon in society,they must break the inherent concept of identity.At the same time,in the short stories,"who is Irish",her creation has turned to a more diversified and more inward direction.The third part is transcendence and deconstruction.In the concubine,the identity of American family is transformed from active to unconscious.In the third novels,there is a difference in cultural identity--the process of transforming differences--recognizing differences.The fourth part,pluralism and reconstruction:Gish Jen transcending Chinese literature and establishing universal cultural identity."World and town" explores the commonness of human society,more open and wider subjects.The concluding part reviews and summarizes the full text.Through the analysis of the works of Gish Jen’s creative career,she has inherited the Chinese American literature and deconstructed the traditional Chinese literature,as well as she representation and the change and transformation of Chinese American literature.Too. |
