English listening is a linguistic skill of great importance. In recent years, more and more attention from scholars and teachers has been paid to listening teaching practice. At present, many scholars at home and abroad have conducted studies on English listening, with theories applied in the fields such as cognitive psychology, linguistics and cross-cultural communication(Anderson&Lynch,1998;Richards,2006;Vandergrift,2006;Goh,2000;Li,2002;Liu,1993;Zou,1996;Chen,1995;Huang,1998;He,1996).There are also many studies orn Bloom’s taxonomy and its application in teaching practice(Bumen,2007;Adams,2015;Tarman&Kuran,2015).But few studies or researches were carried out on applying Bloom’s taxonomy into the listening teaching practice.Based on the previous research results, this paper applies Bloom’s taxonomy to the English listening teaching design, trying to solve these questions:1)How do the teaching activities based on Bloom’s taxonomy affect students mentally and psychologically in listening comprehension?2)What teaching activities based on Bloom’s taxonomy contribute to students’mastery of listening knowledge and skills?3)What kind of influence do the teaching activities based on Bloom’s taxonomy exert over students, performance in testsr?Freshmen majoring in English from two different classes are the target members. Each class has thirty three students. At the end of the semester, the research results of the teaching experiment has shown that 1)teaching activities based on Bloom’s Taxonomy can develop students’ interest in listening and motivate students to learn English in a more active way, which could effectively improve the teaching quality;2)these activities can help students establish scientific views on language and language learning and strengthen students’ listening proficiency through a well-organized systematic study of linguistic knowledge, background information and skills;3)these activities can improve students’ performance in tests. These results convincingly demonstrate that it is feasible and effective to apply Bloom’s taxonomy to the teaching practice of English listening. This study intends to enrich the theoretic and practical studies on the application of Bloom’s taxonomy in teaching practice and at the same time innovate teaching mode of English listening when conditions meet.
