Listening comprehension occupies an important position in English learning.Listening comprehension is a proactive process where listeners can deal with the multifaceted oral information in their brain.The traditional listening instruction is teacher-centered,which emphasizes the massive,iterative and mechanical input of exercises to enhance learner's listening performance.Because this teaching model sees listening as a passive and receptive process,the outcome is disappointing although teachers and students have devoted large amount of time and energy in practicing.With the development of the study of L2 acquisition and learning strategies,the study of listening strategies has gained a wide concern and begun to progress since 1990s.Some scholars tried to train learners to use listening strategies systematically,the results of which shows that the training can enhance learner's strategy awareness and improve their listening performance.The author conducted a listening strategies training to the 52 students from her class based on the researches of some famous scholars,in order to test the effectiveness of the application of listening strategies training in high school.The thesis begins with a general literature review on listening comprehension,its process,model,characteristics and the classification of listening strategy and its training mode.According to the results of the survey,the pre-questionnaire and the student interview,the author learns about the learners' difficulties in listening and the use of listening strategies,and finally decides to choose the note-taking strategy,selective attention strategy,and self-assessment strategy as the main strategies that are to be trained.On the basis of the strategy theories and strategy training models proposed by Oxford,Qiufang Wen,Qingmei Ren,the author puts forward a five-step training model:(1)judge the learners' difficulties in listening and the use of listening strategies;(2)work out a plan for strategy training;(3)implement the strategy training;(4)access the effectiveness of strategy training;(5)adjust and improve the training for strategy.After the 12-week of listening strategy training,the study shows that listening strategy training can enhance the awareness of using listening strategies,that learner's anxiety level in listening has decreased,and that learners can improve their listening comprehension performance.
