The Study Of Zong Baihua’s Artistic Conception Theory In The Landscape Painting Of Four Painters In The Southern Song Dynasty

Art comes from life,and the traditional Chinese landscape painting became well established through the joint efforts of various painters in history,which can be exemplified by the courtyard landscape painting from Nansong Dynasty,a signifcant genre of the traditional Chinese landscape painting.However,artistic conception is the soul of traditional Chinese landscape painting.Mr.Zong Baihua once said,“ the concept of utilitarianism focuses on profits,that of ethics on power,academics on truth,and religion on God.But the concept of art comes between the latter two and it takes the specifics of the universe and life as the its purpose,working on its appearance,order,rhythm,and harmony,through which the most secluded inner self can be reflected and observed.It also turns reality into abstractions,and creates images as representations,thus making the supreme human soul more concrete and incarnated.As artistic thought hinges on philosophical thoughts,this paper approaches the landscape paintings of the four painting masters in Nansong Dyansty from the perspective of the artistic conception proposed by Zong Baihua through exploration of his artistic thought.Based on the birth of artistic conception of China,and from the life experience of Zong Baihua,the article introduces China’s "artistic conception" and zong baihua’s view of "artistic conception",the composition of artistic conception and aesthetic value.The four painting masters of Nansong Dynasty,represented by Litang,attained the highest level of artistic conception in the creation of their landscape paintings.This paper applies the theory of artistic conception proposed by Zong Baihua to the analysis of the four maters’ landscape paintings and arrives at new findings.This paper involves literature review,exemplification and the general analysis in the analysis of the origin of Zong Baihua’s “artisitic conception” theory and its features.It also conducts a detailed analysis of the courtyard landscape paintings of the four painting masters in Nansong and elaborates on the origin of the artistic conception proposed by Zong Baihua.It aims to create a repertoire of Nansong landscape paintings for the creation of landscape paintings in the future,on the basis of which an attempt is made to explore the future artistic creation.
