| Mount Tai Shigandang(stone tablet erected to ward off evil spirits),a combination of spirit stone worship and Mount Tai worship,is a well-known custom in Tai'an district.It represents the symbol and culture characteristics of Mount Tai culture and Shigandang culture.It combined local “Shidai Fu” belief and “Clan Shi of Culai Mountain” history during its spread and evolution and generated several variations.It had taken root in rural life and spread till now despite of many ups and downs.The current popular Mount Tai Shigandang belief and custom in Tai'an district is much different with the one in literatures and other regions.The true vitality of folk belief is embodied,lasting and evolving in people's life.Based on a filed study of village Q in Tai'an district,this article analyzed Mount Tai Shigandang belief and custom in rural life and explored the relationship between Mount Tai Shigandang and people's life.There are two patterns of Mount Tai Shigandang belief in people's life,one is village belief represented with “Stone Lord” statue,and another one is family belief represented with “Mount Tai Shigandang” stone tablet.It has inevitable relation with people's real life.On one hand,geography and society build the patterns and notions of Mount Tai Shigandang;on the other hand,the difference between condition and social role of people in the same community creates notions difference of the same belief in different social classes.The different belief notions also indirectly impact the production and lifestyle of people with such belief.Such belief and related notions,along with explicit custom tension and implicit custom gene,have integrated into people's life habits,thinking habits and production habits.Regarding such relief as their spiritual treasures,people are influenced by it and also extend its vitality unconsciously. |
