| Nowadays,Critical thinking(CT)is regarded as one of the most important qualities that college students should possess,and it is also the main goal of modern education.At present,researchers have reached some general consensus and constructed the basic theory;however,the empirical study of students’ CT ability is insufficient.The content of former researches is rather single and lacks of interdisciplinary.The subjects of the former researches are mainly English majors,therefore,it is needed for us to do a research on non-English majors.With the development of science and technology,the modem university students have been accustomed to the information explosion since the Internet era,experts have been trying to combine teaching and technology,from the blended learning to flip the classroom,and they keep trying to use different ways to teach and to achieve optimal results.This research is mainly focused on the following questions:1)what are the effects of flipped classroom on the students’ critical thinking disposition?2)what are the effects of flipped classroom on the students’ critical thinking skill?3)How to optimize flipped classroom?The study found that after a semester of English flipped classroom teaching,students ’ critical thinking has been significantly improved.In the perspective of critical thinking disposition,the ambivalent results at the beginning are changed into positive dispositions,among them,the improvement of the cognitive maturity of the students was the most significant.Secondly,there is a general improvement in critical thinking skills,and the students ’ critical reading ability has also been improved,among which the improvement of analysticity is the most notable.According to the interview,students found that there is a big difference in the way of thinking after a semester of FC teaching.Thirdly,in order to enhance students’ CT by optimizing flipped classroom,the quiz must arouse students’ interest to think.For the reason that students in China are used to learn knowledge passively,their learning before class should be monitored by checking their notes or asking questions,or teacher could use techniques to check how much time did the students used on watching the video before the class.What is more,the traditional evaluation that based on attendance and final exam should be modified,teachers can distribute the score evenly based on the class Schedule so that students can pay attention to each class.Finally,the paper concludes that the combination of Flipped class and college English reading teaching can provide the students more opportunity to become a good critical thinker,what is more,it can improved students’ reading efficiency.This research has some positive reference value for the future development of college English reading teaching research. |
