| The dialogue between or among characters is an important part of a fiction and is a major presentation pattern of the content of literary works.Fictional dialogue often has such characteristics as the distinctive individuality,the strong communication and the rich social culture.In addition,it also does great help to portray the images of different characters and reflect certain social phenomena.It therefore can be said that characters’ dialogue is the most interesting and fascinating part in a fiction.Based on the author’s personal experiences in the process of translating characters’ dialogues of Struggling II,this report will employ the theory of conversational implicature proposed by a well-known American philosopher Grice,to explore and analyze the translation and conveying of the implied meaning of the fictional dialogues.Generally speaking,the most important part of a fiction is the dialogues among characters and the accurate conveying of the implied meaning is indeed a major difficulty in the translation of fictional dialogues.Therefore,it is of crucial importance for the translator to be able to accurately understand and convey the implied meaning of the dialogues in translation.The author believes that the pragmatic analysis and interpretation of the conversational implicature will have some practical value and reference significance to the translation of literary works,especially to the translation of fictional dialogues.The report falls into five chapters in total.The first chapter mainly gives a brief introduction to the project background,the significance and the overall structure of the thesis.The second chapter is the part of literature review.The third chapter focuses on illustrating the theoretical basis.The fourth chapter is the main body of the thesis and the author in this part has developed a detailed case study.The fifth chapter is a conclusion. |
