Research On Strategies Of Promoting Primary English Teachers’ Teaching Monitoring Ability

The further development of basic education curriculum reform has put forward higher requirements for teachers’teaching abilities.As a core element of teachers’teaching ability,teaching monitoring ability has also become the focus and breakthrough point of research.This study originated from the author’s discussion with teachers who participate in "National Training Plan",finding that they hope to improve their teaching ability,but lack of methods.In order to improve teachers’ teaching monitoring ability,this research takes "teaching monitoring ability" as the key word,a lot of literature researches have been done by the author,finding that most studies on this ability are based on theoretical research and lack of empirical research.In addition,researches are mostly concentrated in the middle and high school,as for the researches on elementary school and English subjects,there have not yet appeared.Therefore,this article takes the improvement of primary English teachers’teaching monitoring ability as a research direction,aims to explore the ways of its promotion.This research owns six parts.The first part is introduction.It introduces the research background and problems,ideas and methods,content and significance,aims to clear the logic of this study by a detailed description.The second part is literature review.It mainly includes concept definition,theoretical basis and research status at home and abroad,in order to clear the direction of this research by reviewing them.The third part is investigation and analysis on current situation of primary English teachers’ teaching monitoring ability.A questionnaire survey is conducted among 60 primary English teachers in Wuhan,Hubei province and finds that(1)The teaching monitoring ability of primary English teachers is generally above average level,and there are differences between the dimensions:plan and preparation before class>evaluation and feedback in class>control and regulation of class>summary and introspection after class;(2)The length of teaching age has an influence on the teaching monitoring ability of teachers.It will rise first and then fall back.The scores of teaching monitoring ability of primary English teachers aged 1-5 years are the lowest,but also the fastest growing stage;(3)Academic factors have an impact on the teaching monitoring ability of teachers.The higher the degree is,the higher the teaching monitoring is;(4)The influence of school area and class size on teachers’ teaching monitoring ability is relatively small.The fourth part is restructure of primary English teachers’ teaching monitoring ability.In view of the existed researches,this ability is divided roughly and not easy to use for teachers.This research is under the guidance of existed researches and theoretical bases,from plan and preparation before class,evaluation and feedback in class,control and regulation of class,summary and introspection after class these four dimensions,All dimensions are from three perspectives of teacher,student and teaching to further concrete in the way of asking questions,in order to help teachers understand and apply the teaching monitoring ability.The fifth part is experimental research on the improvement of primary English teachers’ teaching monitoring ability.It includes the purpose and process of the experiment,objects,tools,promotion strategies and implementation,application cases,data analysis,summary,shortage and prospect.This article believes that the improvement of abilities does not exist independently,it is the result of joint efforts from multiple angles.Therefore,it is proposed to upgrade from the following 5 modules:(1)Establish lifelong learning and strengthen educational theory cultivation;(2)Correct teaching motivation and improve teaching and teaching skills;(3)Conduct self-guidance and develop awareness of teaching monitoring;(4)Use feedback technology and strengthen the training of teaching reflection;(5)Strengthen the practical practice and optimize the effect of teaching monitoring.At the same time,teaching monitoring ability is practical,and the promotion strategies can only be verified through practice.The researcher collaborates with a recruited English teacher from the primary school affiliated to Central China Normal University,and carries out the experimental study to verify the effectiveness of the promotion strategies.It is concluded that the experimental strategies improve teachers’ teaching monitoring ability by data analysis of questionnaires,interviews and classroom observation in the experiment.The sixth part is the summary,innovation,shortage and prospect of the study.The shortcomings and further research directions of this study are pointed out,so as to provide references for future research.
