Wang Yangming’s Thought Of "Unity Of Knowledge And Action" And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

At present,our country is in a critical period of social development.The rapid development of economy and the progress of information technology has shaken people’s ideal pursuits and caused the loss of social individual morality.It also has caused a series of changes and conflicts in the moral field.This is not conducive to the moral construction of modern society and its development practices.On the basis of criticizing and inheriting the theory of the predecessors,Wang Yangming put forward the idea of"the unity of knowledge and action".He advocated real learning and applied science.He opposed leaving the bank to talk and only talk about it.This has provided us with new ideas for resolving the problem of the disconnect between "knowledge" and "action" in the moral field.It is of great practical significance to study the idea of "the unity of knowledge and action" in the development practice of the current social moral construction.The article’s research on Wang Yangming’s thought of "the unity of knowledge and action" is mainly divided into three aspects.The first aspect explored Wang Yangming’s theoretical origins of the idea of "the unity of knowledge and action"through recalling the view of knowledge and action in the school of pre-Qin scholars and the theory of knowledge and action of Cheng Zhu School in Song dynasty.The concept of knowledge and action of the pre-Qin school of thoughts and scholars was specifically discussed with Confucianism’s Confucius and Mencius,Taoist Lao Zhuang,Legalist Han Feizi,and Mojia Mozi’s thinking about "knowledge" and "action".The concept of knowledge and action of Cheng Zhu School in the Song dynasty was mainly based on Cheng Hao,Cheng Yi and Zhu Xi’s thinking about "knowledge" and "action".The second aspect elaborates Wang Yangming’s main idea of "the unity of knowledge and action" through the exploration of Wang Yangming’s three propositions:"mind is reason","conscientiousness" and "sanctification".It is further proposed that the concrete practice of "the unity of knowledge and action" must be achieved through the four paths of"relying for learning","treating hard on the matter","introspection" and "practicing everything".The third aspect first makes a historical evaluation of Wang Yangming’s idea of "the unity of knowledge and action" from the three perspectives of academic value,social influence and theoretical limitation.And then,Wang Yangming’s idea of "the unity of knowledge and action" is integrated with the development practice of socialist core values to provide advice and suggestions for the moral construction of contemporary society.Unlike most scholars who directly study the concepts of "knowledge" and"action".This article starts from Wang Yangming’s whole mind study and specifically explores and expresses the connotation of "the unity of knowledge and action" by Wang Yangming’s thoughts of "mind is reason","conscientiousness" and "sanctification".The article clearly expresses the explicit connection between Wang Yangming’s metaphysical concepts of "rationality","heart","knowledge" and "action".In addition,in response to the development of the society’s current moral construction,the article also put forward four suggestions based on Wang Yangming’s "the unity of knowledge and action" theory.First of all,it is necessary to use knowledge to guide and improve the moral cognitive ability of the actors.Secondly,it is necessary to know and do what is necessary to strengthen the moral practice ability of the actor.Once again,we must know what we are doing and cultivate the actor’s ethical reflexivity.In the end,it is necessary to combine"knowledge" and "action" to improve the moral sublimation ability of actors.
