Teaching evaluation is an important part of the English curriculum,and classroom evaluation is the most critical part of the teaching evaluation system.In order to make classroom evaluation play its expected role,teachers' evaluation language is the most important.The goal of English course in our country is changing from cultivating the comprehensive language application ability to cultivating key competences of English subjects.The evaluation based on key competences should reflect the student-oriented educational concept,cover different aspects of teaching content,focus on the diversity of forms,and play the role of incentive function and promoting function of evaluation.In order to understand the application of teachers' evaluation language in the English class as well as the needs of the students for classroom evaluation language,and refine the classroom evaluation language,this study explores the following three research questions:(1)What are the characteristics of English teachers' classroom evaluation language at present?(2)What are the students' expectations for English teachers' classroom evaluation language?(3)What's the good way to improve teachers' classroom evaluation language in the implementation of competences measures?In view of the above research issues,the research finds that the classroom evaluation of English teachers has the following characteristics through research tools such as classroom observation,questionnaire surveys and interviews:(1)the content of classroom evaluation is comprehensive,but teachers overly focus on language ability and neglect learning ability;(2)teachers use sign evaluation language appropriately,but ignore the function of sign evaluation language;(3)in the use of negative evaluation language,incentive and promoting function are not given full play;(4)classroom evaluation language is not rich enough,and not targeted.The students' needs for classroom evaluation language:(1)expectation for more evaluation language concerning learning ability;(2)expectation for teachers' using negative evaluation more properly;(3)expectation for more sign evaluation language;(4)expectation for evaluation suitable for their own personalities and abilities.In the end,this study focuses on the characteristics of the English teachers' classroom evaluation language,combines with the needs of students and the requirements of key competences,and put forward the following suggestions:(1)establishing the training system of teachers' evaluation language and periodical requirements of key competences;(2)changing teaching concept and improving evaluation ability;(3)giving full play to positive function of negative evaluation language,increasing awareness of using sign evaluation language,and using multiple evaluation methods flexibly...
