A Report On The Construction Of Translation Model Based On Metamorphosis

This article aims to construct manipulation characterization and cognitive model of translation thinking process on Metamorphosis,and to verify the translation model by case analysis.Biography can be divided into two categories: one is to detail historical records which focusing on realism,the other is perceptual literature which focusing on ideographic.The Metamorphosis translation text belongs to the latter,it takes description of mental transformation as the main line,and discourse implications as an important part.Literature research shows that in the past,biographical translation focused more on literal translation,the text was jerky and lingering on the surface,ignoring the effective transmission of cultural,contextual,and connotative meanings,and it was suspected of mechanical translation.The translated text is the language of the soul,and it is also a secondary reconstruction in a certain sense.It cannot follow the literal order or meaning,and it is true especially for biography translation.What a translator needs to do is to grasp the content,define the subject,refine the meaning,and make appropriate description.The translation process involves the application of various translation theories,terms,techniques and texts.It is not simply a transformation process of language symbols,but also a speech activity including the main body of translation.It can surpass the original text and gain new expression.At the same time,translation is the embodiment of subjectivity,and it is bound to integrate the subjective initiative of translator,the interpretation on subjectivity of the original text,the selection of target language,and many other cognitive factors.In the process of conversion from source to target language,once translators begin the translation process,they will inevitably integrate their own concept and opinion into the translation.His translation concept can be called the perspective.The existence of perspective itself has cognitive subjectivity,and the translation process is actually a conceptual cognitive structure of translator’s cognitive background,perspective,ideas and translation combined organically.The characteristics of translation are different from the immediate response of interpretation,and they pay more attention to layout.It focuses on the full disclosure of the psychological state and the secondary structure of the whole chapter.If a translator wants to translate the original text with faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance,he must be diligent in practice and be good at refining.He should be able to learn new knowledge and keep up with the times.Unfortunately,many translation theories still only remain at the level of “what to do”,and linguistics provides deep theoretical grounds for translation theories,clarifying the details of “why do” and “how to do”.Linguistic interpretation of the translation process is more detailed and in-depth.This is one of the reasons why this article blends translation theory with cutting-edge cognitive linguistics,and it is also what this article differs from others.The theme of Metamorphosis is the protagonist achieves introspection of selfbreakthrough experiencing the four stages of “frustration-excitement-transmutationsuccess”.Many descriptions of psychological postures and behavior patterns are involved.Translation theories,such as interpretation and functional equivalence,mostly show only the macroscopic strategies and the inevitable results of translation,microcosmic interpretation of the operational process is not provided.Combining with cognition,the process of translation is a to identify the semantic meaning-attribute extraction-cognitive conceptualization-cognitive reconstruction-language reconstruction,all of which require the support and cooperation of linguistic theories.The success or failure of translation lies in the grasp of the essence of the original meaning.To comprehend the meaning of the original text,it is necessary to extract the essentials it represents,that is,the conceptual attributes,and the way of thinking extracting attributes can only be explained by using the integration theory in cognition and illocutionary metonymy.Therefore,this dissertation takes the pragmatic indirect speech act theory as guidance of pragmatic philosophy,cognitive linguistics as a mode of reasoning through the application of the theory of introductory metonymic attribute induction,and the intentional theory of mental philosophy as the general guideline.Translation is a cognitive process and indirect speech act,which involves“representation of language” and “interpretation of language attributes”.In order to reconstruct and interpret the process of translation,it is inevitably closely linked with the related and frontier theories of cognitive linguistics,complementing and interpreting each other.According to the spirit of cognitive pragmatics,the general principle of the translation process on Metamorphosis is: Words translationinterpretation of the meaning,phrase translation-a substitution on cognitive metonymy,sentence translation-integration of theoretical reconstruction,paragraph translation-the reorganization of functional continuity,text translation-rewriting textual cohesion.Due to limited space,the research practice of this article is only implemented on words and phrases.At present,there is a lack of Chinese translations of biography directed by linguistics,and references can not be easily found.Therefore,this paper strives to clarify the motivations,approaches,operations,and applications of linguistic deep integration with translation theory,and provides a literary translation process model.Provide relevant and effective reference for translators.In a certain sense,it expands and optimizes the overall ideas and specific models of biographical translation in order to achieve the purpose of promoting translation to a broader sense of “faithfulness,expressiveness,and elegance”.The practice of Metamorphosis not only provides guidance for translation studies,but also provides valuable reference for translation practice research and literary translation teaching.In the translation practice,the author adopted the translation research model of“biographical thematic analysis—clarification of translation difficulties—exploration of translation theory—translation strategy analysis—translation method and technique analysis—interpretation of translation results ”,and adhering to the spiritual requirements of the functional equivalence theory,which uses the most appropriate,natural and reciprocal language to reproduce the source language information from semantics to genre,it focuses on researching and solving the following problems: the application of functional equivalence translation theory in the translation,the guiding role of cognitive pragmatics and other linguistic theories,pragmatic analysis of biographic text,and establish the appropriate translation strategies,methods and techniques combining with cognitive pragmatic approach,the professional qualities that a translator should possess in literary translation practice.In the process of translation,the author consults and refers to a large number of monographs and documents containing linguistic and translation theories on biographical translation.The author combines cognitive pragmatics and functional equivalence to make a cognitive analysis and pragmatic explanation of the source text and the translation.At the same time,it tries to summarize the translation strategies of biographical translation,including lexical translation,lexical conversion,lexical addition and omission in order to truly convey all the information of the source text to the target reader.The author uses linguistic theories and translation techniques to solve the problems encountered in translation practice and summarizes the translation methods and techniques of biographic texts based on linguistics.At the meantime,The author pays attention to knowledge and professionalism a biographical translator should possess,aims to guide the translators to improve translation quality,develop effective reference for biographical translation and colleagues.
