Tang and Song cultures are splendid,and profound,which have left a deep impression in the process of Chinese cultures spreading to the outside world.The external communication of Tang and Song cultures have profound influences on the countries around the world.This has not only greatly promoted the exchange and integration of different cultures,but also created an important historical opportunity for the Chinese cultures to move toward the world.Today,the splendid achievements gained and valuable experiences accumulated by the external communication of Tang and Song cultures are still worthy of us to dig deeply and learn from.This article systematically elaborates and analyzes the spirits,symbols,products,systems,and services of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures.Meanwhile,in the background of “The Belt and Road Initiative”,it discusses the contemporary enlightenments of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures in four aspects,namely the creation of Chinese cultural symbols,the export of Chinese cultural products,the improvement of the Chinese cultural system,and the provision of Chinese cultural services.And it offers the strategies and suggestions for promoting the international communication of the contemporary Chinese cultures.There are seven parts in this article.The first part is the introduction.The second part respectively elaborates on the cultural connotation of the “ShangGong” spirit,the “ZhongLi” spirit,and the “GuiHe” spirit.At the same time,it discusses the cultural leading roles played by the three major cultural spirits in the external communication of Tang and Song cultures.The third part elaborates on the important roles of the cultural symbols of “Art” and “Science and Technology” in the Tang and Song Dynasties of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures,by giving an overview of the splendid artistic achievements and the scientific achievements in this historical period,and their positive publicity effects at home and abroad at that ancient times.The fourth part describes the pomp of foreign trades,rich cultural contents,and significant cultural influences of the tea products,silk products and porcelain products during the Tang and Song Dynasties,in order to reveal their great importance.In the fifth part,it introduces the development,completeness,and important influences of the Official School system,the Imperial Examination system,and the Academy system during the Tang and Song dynasties,thus demonstrates their institutional guarantee in the external communication of Tang and Song cultures.The sixth part elaborates on the establishment of “ShiBoShi” in overseas trades and the cultural services provided to the diplomats and the foreign students,and the Song Dynasty set up the “ShiBo Department” in overseas trades and established the "FanFang",the “FanShi”,and the “FanXue” for the groups of “FanKe”,thus emphasizing the supporting roles of the cultural services provided by the Tang and Song dynasties of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures.In the seventh part,in the background of “The Belt and Road Initiative”,in reference of the successful experiences of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures,from four aspects of creation of Chinese cultural symbols,export of Chinese cultural products,improvement of the Chinese cultural system,and provision of Chinese cultural services,tactics and suggestions which are conducive to promoting the international communication of contemporary Chinese cultures are promoted,and the important enlightenments of the external communication of Tang and Song cultures for the contemporary come to a conclusion.
