| Cape Verde is located in the North Atlantic islands and also the farthest country from Africa to China.In December 2015,the Confucius Institute at Cape Verde University was established,this is the first Confucius Institute in Cape Verde,and the first organization in Cape Verde teaching Chinese language and culture.From September 2016 to July 2017,the author had been selected and engaged of the teaching of Chinese language at the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University assigned by the the Chinese Language Council International(hereinafter referred to as Hanban)with grace.This paper researches and analyzes the status of Chinese teaching at the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University from its foundation up to present by the field investigation,questionnaires and interviews conducted during the author’s teaching at Cape Verde University.This paper firstly introduces the fundamental realities of Cape Verde and its general development of Chinese teaching,and than mainly focuses on the learners from Confucius Institute,curriculum,teaching materials,lecturer resources and cultural activities to analyze the development of Confucius Institute with multi-angles.The author hereby certify that the primary sources of the development of the Confucius Institute of Cape Verde University in this paper is true and accurate,as it is sourced from field investigation conducted by the author.It is expected that this paper and its outcomes will be able to contribute in the sustainable development of the Confucius Institute in its management and governance,and fills in the gaps in analysis of Chinese teaching development in Cape Verde. |
