This thesis is a report of a translation practice. The source texts(ST)are four articles about Bob Dylan from The New Yorker,a magazine of the US.Bob Dylan is the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016.The four articles give readers a comprehensive understanding of Bob Dylan from the aspects of character, music, golden period of creation, etc. The purpose of translating these articles is to enable Chinese readers to know Bob Dylan from the perspective of American writers, and to provide references for future translation of such articles.Under the guidance of Skopos theory, this report will discuss the whole translation practice by case analysis. The report is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, which describes the background and the source of this translation practice, and this report’s structure.Chapter two mainly introduces the ST—four articles and their authors, and the purpose of the translation practice. The third chapter describes the whole translation process and the theoretical basis—Skopos theory. The fourth chapter is the main body part. Some typical cases are analyzed under the guidance of Skopos theory from three aspects—lexical aspect, syntactic aspect and the translation of song names. The last chapter is the summary. The author summarizes the difficulties and challenges in the translation practice, and some experience so as to be a more qualified translator and to provide guidance for the future translation.
