Study On The Fish-patterns Of The Cizhou Kiln

The Cizhou kiln was famous in China,featuring a unique artistic style of bold and simple painting,The excellent geographical environment and the two rivers surrounding the kiln made a wonderful source of inspiration for painters.The fish patterns of Cizhou kiln were derived from life and nature.Former studies of the fish patterns were focused mostly on other kilns,and rarely on the Cizhou kiln.This thesis based on documentary analysis focuses on the analysis and study of the technical and artistic features of the fish patterns in Cizhou Kiln.The thesis was divided into five parts.In the first part the research scope,method,content and status were introduced.In the second part the auspicious meaning of the Cizhou kiln and its fish patterns were discussed;In the third part the techniques of the fish patterns in Cizhou kiln including pattern carving patterns,black patterns on white background,red and green color painting etc.Through comparison with other kilns,it was concluded that different techniques created different styles of fish patterns.In the fourth part the artistic features of the fish patterns in Cizhou kiln were explored covering the color,layout,background,and expression forms.In the fifth part the artistic value and the research prospect of fish patterns in Cizhou kiln were covered.The techniques of the fish patterns in Cizhou kiln demonstrated both inheritance and innovation.It inherited the painting skills of the Changsha kiln in the Tang Dynasty.And the red and green color painting was initated in the Cizhou kiln.In regards to the artistic features,the fish patterns in Cizhou Kiln are characterized of realistic profiling,diverse composition contrasting colorsand various ornamental patterns.Based on the comparison with other kilns,the technical and artistic features of the fish patterns in Cizhou Kiln were summarized.
