World Congress of Philosophy(WCP)held by Federation of International Science and Philosophy(FISP)aims at promoting the philosophical study and education.Before the opening of WCP,an informal academic seminar is carried out where philosophers,scholars and students from different countries gather to exchange ideas on the set topic.The 24th World Congress of Philosophy and Global Governance with the theme--learn to be human will be held in Beijing,2018.The informal academic seminar in the preparation meeting was organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology.Scholars and students from China,America,Australia and India,etc participated in the seminar.The author was lucky to serve as the interpreter for the academic seminar.The report is based on the consecutive interpreting of the academic seminar in the preparation meeting of the 24th World Congress of Philosophy and Global Governance.This interpreting task was done under an informal atmosphere,with Chinese and foreign PhD students as the audience.Under the guidance of Gile’s Effort Model and Rozan’s Seven Steps for Effort-saving,examples on strategies the author utilized are illustrated in detailed manner.In this interpreting task,difficulties the author met included academic terms,accent,overload of short-term memory,among which the academic term constituted the biggest challenge.The author through thorough pre-interpreting preparation,proper omission,contextual deduction solved the above difficulties in a flexible approach and thus received a positive feedback from the organizer.Summary has been made on the whole process of this interpreting task in hope of providing reference for other interpreting learners.
