A Research On Martin Luther’s Theological Aesthetics

Martin Luther’s theology was greatly influenced by Christian humanists.Some concepts of the Christian humanists theology was either inherited or absorbed by Luther,or led to deep discussion between the two sides.The humanistic spirit that they demonstrated in that era provided direct ideological resources for the formation of Martin Luther’s theology.Therefore,Luther’s whole theology system contains a wealth of views on aesthetic life theory.Luther’s aesthetic thought is implicit in the pursuit of faith at the core God-human relationship,implicit in the thinking of God-human relationship and a series of important consideration of theology,reflected in how to return to God theological ethics,and in the form of theology language and symbol of metonymy is expressed.This paper discusses the aesthetic ideas contained in Lutheran theology from the key concepts of God’s love and human love,the back of God,and the meaning of faith.The love of God is the foundation and the beginning of the Lutheran aesthetic life theory,which lays the foundation for the Lutheran aesthetic life.The back of God revealed the Lutheran aesthetic life style and path.Faith is the key to the beauty of God.It means that the process of seeking beauty is the process by which one can experience the power of God through revelation and the peace of mind.The source of aesthetic feeling is not rational behavior but harmonious and consistent affective state.Aesthetics is not external to human knowledge but to infiltration and necessity of life.The faith contains the pure love of God,emphasizing the beauty of virtue.The motive of virtue is more important than virtue,and the unity of emotional motive and behavior is real beauty.God is an hypothesis of mankind’s own destiny.In the preset value framework of God and the Word of God,the path of aesthetics is the process of man’s exploration of his own value from the outside.The beauty of God has become an important force for guiding people’s survival practice and value orientation,helps people transcend the material world and realizes the perfect combination of human and truth.God is the other side of humanity.On the road leading to happiness,freedom and transcendence,this side and the other side of man is constantly in conflict,confrontation,reconciliation,reflection.The union of love and beauty makes reconciliation and reflection possible.But in fact,people who are in faith cannot achieve the growth and perfection as human beings,and the imperfect person cannot understand the aesthetic life very well.Therefore,the aesthetic life theory contained in Lutheran theology system is,in fact,ineffective for those who believe.Only when people leave under the blessing of God and gain self-growth and perfection,Luther’s aesthetic life theory would be acting.For the non-believers,the fundamental factor of God’s love cannot find a substitute in the world of non-belief,so the mechanisms of learning and acting is still to be explored.
