The Research On Shaoxing Chamber Of Commerce In The Legal Currency Reform

Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce,as an early and influential social group in Shaoxing,experienced the forced reorganization and reorganization of the Nanjing K.M.T Government around 1930,the independence and autonomy of the Chamber of Commerce were weakened.However,it still played an important role in the local community.On November 3,1935,the Nanjing K.M.T Government announced the implementation of a legal currency reform.As an important area under the jurisdiction of the National Government,Zhejiang has responded positively to the legal reform of the currency.After the decree was issued,the Zhejiang Provincial Government and the Shaoxing Government actively implemented the legal currency policy.On the one hand,Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce played the role of the government administrative assistant and assisted the Shaoxing Government in carrying out various tasks.At the same time,Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce regulated and persuaded the Shaoxing Money Trade Association to assist in the reform.On the other hand,Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce,as the defender of the interests of Shaoxing merchants,it gave priority to the interests of Shaoxing merchants and performed its functions to actively safeguard the interests of merchants.Also,the Chamber of Commerce actively negotiated with the government when its members’ economic interests are impaired.With the participation of Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce,the overall implementation of the legal currency reform policy in Shaoxing is in a good condition.However,Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce as a local chamber of commerce,the breadth and depth of participation is very limited.Compared with the Chambers of Commerce in Tianjin,Shanghai and Hangzhou,Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce is more passive with the implementation of government decrees,which is because Shaoxing Chamber of Commerce itself is small in scale,Chamber of Commerce within the money industry forces.
