| Interpretation anxiety, which can exert a huge impact on the performance of interpreters, should not be overlooked in the interpretation process. This paper will mainly give focuses to the influencing factors, symptoms and coping strategies of anxiety in the process of consecutive interpretation(CI).The purpose of this paper is to find out why the MTI students have anxiety,in what way does this anxiety affect their performance and thus put forward some coping strategies accordingly. The interpretation anxiety scale is used in this paper to collect data and make analysis. Results show that the majority of MTI students at China Foreign Affairs University(CFAU)feel nervous when they do field interpretation.Even if they make full preparation beforehand, they still suffer from different degrees of anxiety. The percentage of respondents who handle the mistakes with ease during interpretation is just a little over 20%.However,handling the mistakes with ease when interpreting is a must for a qualified interpreter, otherwise it will affect interpreter’s psychological state and as interpretation goes on it may even lead to the “burnout” effect. In view of these findings, this paper puts forward some suggestions, hopefully providing some useful guidance for interpreters. |
