An Analysis Of Xi Jinping On The World Stage In 2016 From The Perspective Of Multimodal Positive Metaphor

Nowadays,the discourse analysis of multimodal metaphor is becoming more and more important with the trend toward globalization and informatization and also the popularization of multimodality.And many researchers at home and abroad are getting increasingly interested in constructively interpreting news with “friendly”,“positive”,and “tolerant” attitude.There are five chapters in this paper.The introduction part is divided into three parts: The first part introduces the research background and the research situation;The second part discusses the significance of this study;And the third part shows the research method,which mainly includes the methods of qualitative and quantitative,synthesis and analysis.In other words,the introduction part lays a solid theoretical foundation for the following part.As for the first chapter,it is mainly focus on the major theories about multimodal metaphor and positive discourse analysis and their development,from both home and aboard.That is to say,this chapter provides a clear theoretical background for this study through conducting literature review.The second chapter consists of three parts: The first part talks about the evaluation model of Habermas’ s theory of communicative action;There are two small parts in the second part,namely,multimodal metaphor and its representation.In this part,the theory of multimodal metaphor is introduced and systematically analyzed from the dimension of society.The third part integrates positive discourse analysis and multimodal discourse analysis on the basis of systemic functional linguistics.And the multimodal positive discourse analysis will be demonstrated from the aspects of attitude system,intervention system and differential system.The forth chapter analyzes the multimodal positive metaphors in Xi Jinping on the World Stage in 2016 in two steps: identifying the multimodal metaphor and its context,and analyzing its representation.And much attention is paid for studying the content and way of metaphorical mapping,i.e.,how some parts of these metaphorical mappings control the organizational structure of a discourse for a certain topic at a certain time.In the last chapter,the multimodal positive discourse in Xi Jinping on the World Stage in 2016 is analyzed from the aspect of “multimodal”,“multifunction”,and the positive interaction between the modals.However,there are still few researches conducted for multimodal positive discourse analysis.To fill this gap,this study explores the positive metaphors in Xi Jinping on the World Stage in 2016 and analyzes them from the perspective of multimodal positive discourse.Not only can this research dig out the positive information about China’s diplomatic strategy from the micro video,it also expands the research scope of positive discourse analysis.
