| This is a report on the English-Chinese translation of an excerpt from Espresso Coffee: The Science of Quality,which introduces various aspects of coffee on the basis of scientific research,including the coffee planting,coffee making,coffee and health and so on.The excerpt,Chapter Ten,explains coffee consumption and health from the aspect of physiology to eliminate concerns among coffee lovers that coffee is carcinogenic.This translation report summarizes the translation strategies adopted by the translator under the guidance of translation shifts theory put forward by J.C.Catford and the reflections of the project.The report is composed of four chapters.Chapter One introduces the background and significance of the project,as well as the layout of the report.Chapter Two describes the translation process,which includes an analysis of the contents and features of the source text.Catford’s translation shifts theory and its content are also briefly introduced here.Chapter Three focuses on the case study of the project.Difficulties in translation,such as terms,attributive clause and passive voice,and methods used by the translator are discussed.Chapter Four summarizes the lessons that the translator gained from the project. |
