Research On The Military Supplies Of Shanxi Five-army Archers In Northern Song Dynasty

The Shanxi Five-Arrow Archers in the Northern Song Dynasty played an important role in the War of the Song and Xia States as a unit of the soldiers.The archer’s research on military equipment and supply issues is an attempt to study another perspective of the Shanxi Five-Archer archers and military defense system in the Northern Song Dynasty.The issue of the supply of military supplies to archers is not only related to the supply of food,military equipment,and daily necessities,but also related to the establishment of archers,the number of people and other issues.The purpose of this paper is to clarify the supply of military equipment of Shanxi Wulu archers in the Northern Song Dynasty,in order to have a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of the Shanxi 5th archers in the Northern Song Dynasty,and then to carry out the functions of the Shanxi 5th Archers and the military defense system in the Northern Song Dynasty.Further excavation will allow us to use a different perspective to grasp the views of the bureaucrats in the Northern Song Dynasty on the Northwest defense system and the Song and Xia War.The main part of the full text is five chapters,the specific content is as follows:The first chapter mainly discusses the establishment and number changes of Shanxi Five Archers.In general,the most basic form of the archer is the command.The number of archers will fluctuate with the ruler’s policy and generally stabilize between 150 and 600.In the center,the archers are mainly governed by the Privy Council and the Ministry of War.They are supervised by local officials,military attachés,or dispatched officers.The second chapter mainly discusses the military equipment and supply of Shanxi Five Archers.The archer’s military equipment and supplies mainly include military supplies,supplies of grass and supplies of daily necessities.The archer’s military equipment and supply are more extensive.The main route is the archers’ own and the government’s provision.The third chapter mainly discusses the important role of Baozhai defensive system in the military supply of Shanxi Wulu Army.The Baozhai defensive system can not only protect cultivated land,store grain,and delineate the land boundary of the northwestern border of the Northern Song Dynasty,but also provide a way for the army stationed by Shanxi Wulu to provide grain and grass.In the middle and late Northern Song Dynasty,the combination of archers and Baozhai’s defensive system saved military expenditure and improved combat effectiveness for the Northern Song Dynasty.It played an important role in the development and consolidation of the Shanxi Five-way situation.The fourth chapter mainly compares the duties of archers and bans,military equipment,food,and welfare.The comparison of the two services in all aspects intuitively reflects the unique characteristics of the archer as a unit in the soldiers,highlighting the important role that the archer played in the Northern Song Dynasty and the Song and Xia Wars from establishment to development.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the opinions of the scholar-bureaucrats on the archers and the Northern Song Dynasty defense system.From the establishment of the archers and the discussions held around the archers,it can be seen that the gentry of the Northern Song Dynasty adopted the idea of passive defense against the archers and the Shanxi Five-way military defense system as a whole.The "military" military and political policy is to maintain the rule of the Northern Song Dynasty.
