The Exploration Of University Library’s Wayfinding System Design That Based On The Experience Of Readers

With the renovation and expansion of many university libraries,the area of the library is growing.The internal space structure is more and more complex.Reader’s behavior of finding books and path in the library must be completed with the help of wayfinding system design.The performence of wayfinding system design would directly affect the readers’ experience.Its importance is obvious.But nowadays this system design in academic libraries couldn’t catch enough attention in our country.Its systematic,functional,culture,experience and so on have many disadvantages,so in this paper,we do some research and exploration of the reader’s experience in university library under the background of the wayfinding system design to guide for our country university library system design and provide some valuable suggestions.This thesis mainly divided into four parts.The first part discusses the wayfinding system’s background of related theory.From the composition and concept of wayfinding system,we analyze the influential elements and the general characteristics of the wayfinding system design.It can provide the theory base for the research in a later chapter.The second part mainly studies wayfinding system design of university library and readers experience,analyze this system’s structure and the classification of the experience of readers and find some problems about the system design through the survey data that survey through the questionnaire by target readers.The third part summaries the shortcomings of the university library wayfinding system design through the library field research and gives the domestic library wayfinding system design some concrete proposals through the analysis of foreign outstanding case.The fourth part is the conclusion part.Through the preliminary research analysis it concludes the design principles and key points of the university library’s wayfinding system and gives some targeted suggestions for the system design in the future.University library is the center of the campus culture,and has an important responsibility for the construction of campus culture.As a part of the university library visual image,the wayfinding system design not only fully display the library and campus culture characteristics,but also improve readers’ experience considering to the reader’s characteristic and demand.Meanwhile it should meet readers’ sensory experience and form the psychological emotional cognition,so as to enhance the brand competitiveness of the library and build a university library with humanistic characteristics.
