The Study Of Yu-kung Kao And Tsu-lin Mei's Research Of Tang Poetry

This thesis takes Yu-kung Kao and Tsu-lin Mei's Three Articles of Tang Poetry:the Structuralist Criticism of Poetry as its research object,on the basis of combing and reviewing its main ideas,to show the whole picture of the research of Tang poetry language through close reading,and to reveal the applicability and limitation of the western linguistic criticism theories in their research through contrastive study.The body part consists of four parts.The introduction part focuses on the background and the research status,and also summarizes the general ideas of Kao and Mei's research,from which three representative topics are discussed respectively in the next three chapters.The first two chapters of which focus on combing and reviewing,and the third chapter focuses on the ideas extracted from the chapter one and two,which are the essential theories of Kao and Mei's research.In the first chapter,the syntactic research of Tang Poetry,the author starts this chapter from the discussion of the “image”,investigates the “simple image” and the “dynamic image”,and then discusses the core syntactic theories of Kao and Mei.The second chapter is about the semantic research of Tang Poetry.The author investigates the application of the “principle of equivalence” which is proposed by Jakobson in the metaphor and allusion.The third chapter discusses the dichotomy of Tang poetry language,“imagistic language” and “propositional language”,“metaphoric language”and “analytic language”,which reflects the core thinking mode of their research of Tang poetry language.
