Today,it is very important to stimulate and cultivate the individual or organization’s ability to innovate, but it is of great practical significance to scientifically and accurately evaluate creative capabilities and products. In the past decades, although psychologists have made many important efforts in the evaluation of creativity and achieve a series of beneficial research results, the studies about creative evaluation is relatively less than the studies about the generation, development and cultivation of creative thinking. There are two basic issues that need further discussion:(1)In the process of creativity evaluation, whether individuals with different levels of creativity have significant differences in their evaluation results?(2)What is the cognitive process and mechanism affecting individual creativity evaluation? This study attempts to provide preliminary answers to these two questions with the help of three specific studies. In study 1,156 subjects are randomly selected, this experiment adopt a 2(Creativity groups:high-creativity group;low-creativity group)×3(Material type: low appropriateness with high novelty;high novelty with high appropriateness, high novelty with low appropriateness)mixed design and we focus on the impact of individual creativity levels on the evaluation of different types of materials. The results shows that in the process of evaluating creative product,high-creative people rate creative products more accurately than low creative people, but underestimate highly creative products. In study 2,we randomly select 151 subjects and adopt 2(Creative groups: high-creativity group;low-creativity group)× 5(Picture types: low novelty, high appropriateness and close semantic distance;high novelty, high appropriateness and close semantic distance;high novelty, high appropriateness and remote semantic distance;high novelty, low appropriateness and close semantic distance;high novelty, low appropriateness and remote semantic distance)mixed design and we focus on the role of semantic distance in the relationship between creativity and evaluation ability. The results show that, compared to low-creative individuals,high-creative individuals are more likely to judge remote semantic distance word pairs closer;creative products with higher semantic distances will have higher creative scores;compared to low-creativity people,high-creative people will underestimate the novelty level of remote semantic distances products, but there is no significant difference in the scores for high novel and close semantic distance products;and the semantic distance mediates between individual creativity level and creative interpersonal evaluation ability. In study 3,153 subjects are selected randomly, the experiment use a two-factor mixed design of 2(Creative group: high-creativity group;low-creativity group)× 2(Word pairs type: remote semantic distance;close semantic distance),focusing on the role of feature extraction ability in the relationship between creativity and semantic distance. The results show that high-creative people get more similar features from remote distant word pairs than low-creative ones;the stronger similarity feature extraction ability a person has,the closer they judge the semantic distance of remote words;the similarity feature extraction ability mediates between individual creativity level and semantic distance.Under the conditions of this study, the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)High creative people judge more accurately on creative products, but their scores will be lower than low creative people;(2)The perception difference in semantic distances of remote elements involved in creative products are an important reason that leads to differences in creative product evaluations among individuals with different level of creativity.(3)The difference of feature extraction capabilities are an important reason that leads to differences in semantic distance perception among individuals with different level of creativity.
