D.H.Lawrence is a 20th-century English novelist, his novel has received constant attention at home and abroad since its inception. What was initially noticed was his bold depiction of sex in the novels. However, with the deepening of the research, researchers found that there were still many places in D.H Lawrence's novels worth studying,so they began to study D.H Lawrence's novels from different angles.By combing these studies,we can find that there are not many researches about "Mining Area ",especially from the angle of gender and class of “Mining Area” in D.H Lawrence's novel.Through a careful study of Lawrence's novels,we find that there are many discussions about gender and class. This paper analyzes the problems of the Gender and Class based on the “Mining Area” of D.H.Lawrence's novels “Sons and Lovers”,“The Rainbow”,“Woman in Love”,“Lady Chatterley's Lover” and so on.In his novels,D.H Lawrence reveals his thoughts about the gender situation, and also exposes the class differences of “Mining Area”.In terms of the gender situation of “Mining Area” there is a constant gender struggle in the family space and serious gender segregation in the public space. In terms of the class situation of “Mine Township”,the classes are mainly reflected in four aspects: the cross-class marriage, the bourgeois residence and the working class residence, the labor alienation in mining field, the alienation of human nature and the mining schools under capitalist education system. In a word, the writing of “Mining Area” in D.H Lawrence's novels is full of traces of gender, class and power. Therefore, the paper focuses on the analysis of these aspects of “Mining Area”,trying to reproduce the gender and class situation in the British society at that time, alerting the later generations that the world should strive to pursue the integrity of the self and others. The details as follows:Part ?: The gender and “Mining Area” in D.H Lawrence's novels. This part involves the family space and gender as well as the public space and gender in the “Mining Area”.In the family space: the first one is,the battle for control in the miners' families, and the final result is that the male “drift out of the family atmosphere”,and the female also present an “at home” state. There are many reasons for this kind of battle. The second is that the gender of social public space shows that the activity of miner's wife's is almost limited to the market and the church, and the miners mainly live in the tavern and mine.In this article we analyzed the significance of these different spaces for women or men and explain the reasons for this situation.Through the analysis,we find that although the female miners occupy the dominant position in the home,in fact, the status of the women at the bottom of society in the Lawrence's era has not undergone any essential changes compared with that of the past time.Part ?: The class and “Mining Area” in D.H Lawrence's novels. The class situation in “Mining Township” is mainly manifested in four aspects: The first is the class contradiction and conflict arising from the marriage of the cross classes. The most representative characters are Morrell and Gertrude in “Son and Lover”,Males and Baroness in “Lady Chatterley's Lover”,Gerard and Ursula in “Woman in Love”.This kind of marriage in the novel are tragic, investigate its reason,as Lawrence said: Class is an insurmountable gap.Second, the housing and class division. It manifests in the housing and its surrounding environment, interior and exterior decoration, housing and disease and so on.Third, mines and classes. The class is mainly combined with power, which derives from Stratum's possession of social resources, and manifested by the alienation of labor and relationship between people.Fourth, schools and classes. The novels mainly show the situation of the schools in the mining areas under the capitalist education system.Part ?: The writing of “Mining Area” and British Society.Based on the above analysis of the gender and class in “Mining Area” of D.H Lawrence's novels, referring to the British social situation before D.H Lawrence's time, this part tries to reproduce the gender and class situation of the British society in D.H Lawrence's time.At the same time,by exposing the living conditions of men and women and people of all strata in “Mining Area” we urge people to pursue the integrity of their own and other people's lives. Conclusion: Through the analysis of the gender and class in “Mining Area”,we can get some new situations in the general situation.
